Pearls have generally been thought to symbolise sincerity and purity while inspiring truth and loyalty.

Formed when an irritant enters a mollusk shell, many layers of nacre form around this irritant to eventually create a pearl over time. The characteristic iridescent surface sheen is due to these overlapping layers of nacre and, in fact, the mollusk's shell is also made from this and is known as 'mother of pearl'.

These 4mm cultured freshwater pearls are set on simple sterling silver ear studs. The stunning iridescent peacock colour of the pearls, which ranges from grey to deep blue, is the result of adding dye to the surface layer of nacre.

About Seadragon Silver

I was born in the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac, and I love creating beautiful jewellery using seaglass, most of which we find along the beautiful beaches of the North Norfolk coast here in England. Some of it comes from much further afield, thanks to friends who send me 'mermaid mail' from as far away as Japan, Tasmania and the United States.

I'm proud of every piece I make, and I hope you enjoy wearing my jewellery as much as I love making it.
